Visa Appeals & Reviews

If your visa application has been refused or cancelled, you may still have options. We help clients understand their rights, prepare appeals and represent them throughout the review process. Time limits apply to most appeals, so it is critical to act quickly.

A refusal doesn’t have to be the end of the road. In many cases, a well-prepared appeal or review can overturn the original decision. We bring the same thoroughness and attention to detail to appeals that we bring to original applications.

What we handle

Administrative Appeals Tribunal (AAT) merits review

We prepare and lodge AAT applications, compile new evidence and represent you at tribunal hearings. Time limits typically range from 7 to 28 days from the date of refusal.

Ministerial Intervention requests

In exceptional cases, we prepare submissions requesting the Minister to intervene and grant a visa outside normal legislative requirements.

Character and health waiver submissions

Detailed submissions addressing character or health concerns that may have led to a refusal or cancellation.

Cancellation appeals

Representation for clients facing visa cancellation on character, compliance or other grounds.

Judicial review advice

If merits review is not available or has been unsuccessful, we advise on whether judicial review in the Federal Circuit Court is appropriate and refer you to specialist litigation partners.

Received a refusal? Act quickly
